Intex Explorer K2 Product Review
This past Sunday my family enjoyed a day at Red Haw State Park in Iowa on the water using our new kayak. For Christmas, we got the Intex Explorer K2 inflatable 2 Person Kayak. This was our first time opening the box and using this kayak. Here are a few of the pros and cons.
Pros –
- Convenient. It is easy to transport, inflate, and deflate. Our first time it took about 15 minutes to unpack, put together, and inflate. It took about 10 minutes to deflate, dry, and put back in the bag. It fits nicely inside my vehicle.
- Easy to maneuver on a peaceful lake.
- Comes with everything you need to use it. Paddles, air pump, storage bag , and a patch kit included.
- Made for 2 people and the inflatable cushions are comfortable. This is a great option especially if you are uncomfortable sending kids out on their own.
- Made of strong 3 ply material. Seems like it is made well and will last a long time. I have only used this one time so far so I will monitor how it holds up.
- Affordable kayak option especially if you have no way to transport a hard kayak. Easily justified by the cost of renting a kayak per hour at the park (usually ranges around $20 per hour to rent for just one person.)
Cons –
- Not made for rapid waters.
- Paddles are not as strong as regular paddles. They work well. Just seems like they wouldn’t push off well if you get stuck.
- A con for some may be that it is made for two people instead of just one.
My Recomendation:
After trying this out, I would recommend the Intex Explorer K2 to anybody who wants an easy to use and transport kayak and only plans on using it in mild waters. I found the kayak to be comfortable, affordable, easily transportable, convenient to use, and easy to navigate in the water. So if this meets your needs, I would definitely recommend it to you.
