What We Liked About It –

When you first arrive at this park, it appears as about any other park with a lake. However, once you start to explore and discover the trails you become entranced by the many ups and downs and views that they offer. It becomes more thrilling, the further you get in the trails. The trails are made for both hiking and biking. The day we went, we only hiked but could imagine how fun it would be to bike these one way trails.

The lake provides stunning views and is perfect for skipping rocks, fishing, and is a calm place to go for very peaceful kayaking.

The summer day we went, the kids also enjoyed bringing their remote control vehicles to explore the Summerset biking trail that connects Indianola to Carlisle. Pretty close to the beginning of this trail is a bridge that you can stop and look at Middle River.

There is also plenty of parking near all of the different trails and lots of benches to sit and take on the views of the lake.

One thing to keep in mind when visiting, is there is a shooting range at this park. The shooting range is separated from the rest of the park but you will hear some shooting in the background.

We really enjoyed this park and especially the variety of biking paths that it offers. We also think the hiking paths would make an excellent place to practice for cross country.
