What We Liked About It –
We visited on a pleasant day in August. We enjoyed hiking the Bridal Veil Falls Trail which connected to the Myotis Trail. The trials were easy for the kids to walk on and were made of up a lot of boarded paths. The falls themselves were nice to look at but are on the smaller side.

The best part of the hike is reaching Crows Nest and viewing the spectacular views the Mississippi River offers along side the stunning bluffs. At this view point, you are also able to see where the Mississippi River meets the Wisconsin River. We did not get to see this area when the leaves change color, but we can only imagine how stunning it would be to visit during the fall months.

Keep in mind that Effigy Mounds National Monument is only 7 miles away and is great place to visit on the same day. About 11 miles away is Spook Cave which offers a boat tour through a cave, hiking trails, and a campground with cabin rentals. All of these locations can be done the same day. If you want to extend your stay, camping is offered throughout the area including at Pikes Peak State Park and at Spook Cave. If camping isn’t your thing, you can always stay in McGregor or Marquette at a bed and breakfast or hotel. If you stay, another great thing to do would be to take a boat tour of the Mississippi River which are offered out of Marquette, Iowa. This area would make for a great weekend getaway.
