Top Des Moines Pumpkin Patches and Apple Orchards to Visit in 2025

Fall has officially arrived, and there’s no better way to celebrate the season than by visiting a local pumpkin patch or apple orchard. Whether you’re searching for the perfect pumpkin, fresh apples, or just a fun fall outing, I’ve rounded up the best spots to visit around the Des Moines area in 2025.
Howell’s Greenhouse and Pumpkin Patch
- Admission – $18 plus tax per person ages 2 and up. Seniors (65+) and Military $12 plus tax. Tickets can be purchased online in advance for a discounted price. Also, fall season passes are available for purchase. Some activities and items have additional fees.
- Hours – 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Daily

- Things to Do – Wagon rides, paintball, corn maze, bathtub train, obstacle course, bee lines, jump pad, grain wagon hoops, two seated trikes, corn cannon, corn pool, pedal go carts, combine observation deck, mud pies, hula cow and goat, hamster wheel, duck races, swings, slides, goat feeding, pumpkin picking, concessions, and more.

Center Grove Orchard –
- Admission – Weekends in September – $23.95 per person, Weekends in October $25.95 per person, Weekday Admission (not open on Tuesdays) – $17.95 per person. * Thursdays after 2 pm is Buy 1 Get 1 at the Gate. Tickets can be purchased online at a discounted price. Fall season passes are also available for purchase. Some activities and items have additional fees.

- Dates – August 30, 2025 – November 2, 2025
- Things to Do – Apple and pumpkin picking, jumping pads, train rides, wagon rides, slides, sandbox, corn pool, ag olympics, bee line, chalk truck, Molly Moo, barn show, straw bale pyramid, and country store, and many food options, and so much more.

Pumpkinville and Cornmaze –
- Admission – FREE. The corn maze is $8 for 6+ years, $1 for 3-5, and free for 0-2. The mini maze is $1 per person for ages 3+. Campfires can be reserved for a fee based on hours of use. Items are available for purchase.
- Hours – 10:00 am – 7:00 pm Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. 10:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday and Saturdays. Closed on Mondays.
- Dates – August – October 2025
- Things to Do – The free entry includes free hayrack rides, hay train, playground, bounce house, sack races, tug of war, and more! You can pick your own pumpkin or choose one that is prepicked in addition to other fall decor items available for purchase.

Wills Family Orchard –
- Admission – No admission to enter farm but if you want do the activities an activities pass is required for each person including parents. The activity pass is $11 person person. A season pass is available for purchase. Ages 2 and under are free. Other items are available for purchase.
- Hours – Saturdays – 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sundays Noon – 6:00 pm
- Dates – September – October
- Things to Do – Corn pools, hayrides, a corn maze, duck races, a spider web, Chippin’ Coop, a low ropes courses are included in the activity pass. Pumpkin picking and apple picking are also available here. There are barnyard animals to visit and baked goods and other items available for purchase.

- Admission – No fee to enter the patch. Family Fun Zone Admission is $5 per person. Infants are free of charge. Items are available for purchase.
- Hours – Tuesday-Sunday 9 am-6 pm *The Family Fun Zone is open 10 am to 5 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
- Dates – late September through Halloween
- Things to Do – Slide into hay, take a wagon ride, and or play in a corn pool. Those are some of the fun zone activities. Grab a homemade pie, apples, and pumpkins while you are here also.
